2011 festival of Colors

This year I was able to go to the Festival of Colors, it was an amazing experience and I got some really cool photos.  For those of you who do not know exactly what the Festival of Colors is let me explain...
The Festival of Colors is a Spring religious festival celebrated by Hindus.  All day it is celebrated by people throwing colored flower at each other.  Here in Utah everyone gathers at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple, it is open to everyone which I think may just be the neatest part about it.  It doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, or what your religion is, anyone can go.
When there you can purchase bags of color, blue, green, purple, orange, pink... on and on!  They are scented which you think would be nice but after having it thrown all in your face and mouth.  The smell is a little strong, but hey it doesn't matter because you get to throw color at random people!

There are massive color throwings every two hours, of course in between you have random color fights like this one
When we first got ours colors we only had to wait about 10 minutes until the first throwing, it was awesome!  We were in the back of the crowd with all the families but it was still really fun.  5...4...3...2...1!!! Colors fly into the air creating a huge cloud of brown that starts to billow towards you.  Everyone is throwing at everyone and by the end you are covered!

We walked around and saw lamas, white peacocks, and some delicious smelling food!  For the next color throwing we went on top of the temple so I could get some good pictures and here is the end result :)

And here is what my face looked like on the car ride home!
